My main body of work, including the series The Past Four Months and Driving Home, explores the storytelling possibilities of prints, using their slow and deliberate methods to critique the rapid sharing of images through social media. Each print begins with a photo, often shot with my cell phone camera as this allows the photos to be taken during my life. As opposed to the almost immediate sharing of images through sites such as Instagram and Facebook, I wait to choose pictures until I have a collection, providing time for reflection and editing. Both The Past Four Months and Driving Home occurred during periods of growth and change in my life, and the moments that were significant did not become apparent until later. The photos are not of specific events but rather everyday moments, and I hand-print them to bring a permanence to these otherwise ephemeral images.
