I co-founded and run Shop Cold Pizza, an art and apparel brand that works with artists across the country to design, print, and sell their goods. To offset the financial risk for artists, we take on the printing and production costs. Artists receive a commission on every work sold.
To create an entry point for new artists, we hold semi-regular open calls for design submissions. We also actively work with youth, providing training and support in screen printing and design techniques.
The environmental impact of screen printing is important to us, and we use only water-based inks (a much more eco-friendly option than plastic-based inks more commonly used for textile printing). We were the first print shop in Saskatchewan to use water-based inks but are no longer the only, as we have worked with Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op to set-up a water-based screen print studio there. We are excited that we can now pass along custom print requests to CNYC, and that you are able to print apparel with their own designs.
