Void Gallery

Executive Director: Void Gallery (2012-2021)

I co-founded and led Void, a Saskatoon-based artist-run centre with a focus on supporting emerging artists. In response to community needs, Void moved through numerous forms over its near decade of operations, including a commercial gallery, printmaking studio, and centre for community-based art practices. In its later years, Void operated as a screen print and risograph studio that led art projects in community, held workshops and open studio hours so people could make their own prints, and worked with established artists to produce editions of their work. Void incorporated as a non-profit in 2017 and I served as its Executive Director until having to step away when I accepted a position with Canada Council.

Through Void, I built printmaking studios with schools and arts centres throughout the province, including: Prince Albert, Melfort, Aden Bowman Collegiate, Centennial Collegiate, and Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op (CNYC). I continue to work with CNYC to develop a t-shirt screen printing studio in their building that provides the technical skills and access to equipment necessary for their youth to print and sell apparel with their own designs.

In 2019, growing out of Void programming I co-founded Shop Cold Pizza, an art and apparel brand that prints and sells work on behalf of artists. Cold Pizza takes on the financial risk facing artists when printing their own goods and explores how art can be part of everyday life – how it can be worn or exist in people’s homes.
